Mexico: 'Healing blanket' covers capital's main square in women's rights protest

Hundreds of patchworks were joined together by activists in Mexico City on Sunday in an art project raising awareness of violence against women. Footage shows dozens of volunteers and spectators enjoying the art pieces on the iconic Zocalo square. Public healing prayers were also performed during the event. «The main demand is that women take conscience of the power that each one has and use... Еще art as a form of expression,» said Marietta Bernstorff, the founder of Patchwork Healing Blanket project. Official figures suggest 809 women were killed in Mexico between January and October last year compared with 728 during the same period of 2018.
