Mexico: Central American migrants intercepted at southern Mexican border

A caravan of around 1,000 Central American migrants was intercepted by Mexican police and immigration officers on the southern Mexican border at Metapa on Wednesday. The group of migrants comprised nationals of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, who were heading north in order to reach the United States and claim asylum. Some of the migrants reportedly had to be wrestled to the ground and... Еще detained, while others showed clear signs of distress and required medical assistance after fainting. The interception comes as the administration of US President Donald Trump is threatening Mexico with sanctions if it doesn't reduce the number of migrants who arrive via its southern boarders.
