Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) showed off items which he described as a «protective shield» against the coronavirus, during his morning press conference in Mexico City on Wednesday.
«The protective shield is honesty, that is what protects, not allowing corruption. Look, this is the 'Detente'. This was given to me by the people,» said the Mexican president, who showed off an... Еще amulet, and a two-dollar bill that he said had been given to him by a migrant.
So far, 93 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Mexico, and on Tuesday the government confirmed that 3.5 billion pesos (134,293,250 euros) would be allocated to fight the outbreak.
According to the latest reports from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), at least 194,000 people have been infected by COVID-19 worldwide and more than 7,500 people have died.
