German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed citizens onto the grounds of the Chancellery in Berlin for the annual Day of Open Doors, Sunday. Many waited patiently for the opportunity to take a selfie with the chancellor while looking at the government car and helicopter on display. The public were also able to enter the foyer of the Chancellery building and view its front yard and back garden. A... Еще boy, who was visiting the Chancellery, puzzled the German leader with the question, asking if Germany could have a good relationship with Russia. Merkel noted, «I am working on it, and we are trying [to resolve] the big conflict with Ukraine. At the moment, we are now working on that to get a ceasefire in Donbass by the beginning of the school year, which would be the first step before we proceed. And I can say, we would like to have a really good relationship with Russia.» The Day of Open Doors is held annually in Berlin to offer citizens the chance to put difficult questions to ministers in a face-to-face setting. Various governmental institutions participate in the day.
