German Chancellor Angela Merkel hosted Christmas carol singers at the chancellery in Berlin on Monday, for the 61st traditional carol singing, known as the «Three Kings Singing».
Addressing the attendees, Merkel spoke of the need to help out children with disabilities. «Children with disabilities could do so much if we helped them more and gave them some support, but unfortunately that's not... Еще possible everywhere,» she said.
«Let's be honest, even when they have everything at a material level, sometimes people who are a little bit different are pretty much teased and do not have an easy life,» said Merkel.
«That’s why it is also very important, even in a rich country, to deal with disabled people in such a way that their dignity is always respected and that we empathise with them. It is a part of your job too,» she added.
