Meet Arikayn — a quartet of Afghan migrants rocking Tehran

The band Arikayn has managed to rock on in Tehran despite hardship often experienced by Afghan migrants and musicians in Iran, footage from Saturday shows. Drawing inspiration from Metallica, the band's soulful ballads often mirror the daily struggles of thousands and thousands of Afghans who have fled to Iran from war, Islamist fundamentalism and terror in Afghanistan. «People who practice... Еще music do not permanently reside in Afghanistan,» said Hakim Ebrahimi, the lead singer. «In urban areas where there are theatres and [people watch] TV, there is a high risk of suicide attacks.» Arikayn, literally meaning 'lantern', was formed in 2013.
