Andrei Martynyuk, a self-taught craftsman from the Belarussian city of Dzerzhinsk, gave a tour of his workshop on Thursday. The workshop was filled with dozens of intricate, complex, and fully functional clocks. The woodcarver explained he has been making clocks for the past three decades, first as a hobby but for the past seven years full time. «I have no professional education for that... Еще, I am an electric communication engineer. So I had to learn all the skills to make clocks on my own», Martynyuk said. Currently he is working on a large mechanical kinetic theatre which will display three well-known holidays in Belarus: Koliada (pre-Christian Slavic winter festival), Kupala Night (peak of the summer celebration) and Dożynki (a Slavic harvest festival).
