The male coach of the Thai kabaddi team dresssed in a headscarf so he could circumvent a ban on male spectators of the female game in Iran. Images of the unnamed Thai coach and his makeshift headscarves have circulated on social media. The Chief of the Iranian Kabaddi Federation confirmed that the coach had managed to slip past unknowing guards. In an interview, he said, «when men had to exit... Еще the hall so that women could enter, [the male coach of Thailand team] used that opportunity, entered the hall and stood pitchside.» Iran has been hosting the 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championships in the northern city of Gorgan. Kabaddi is a contact sport which comes from the Indian subcontinent. The Islamic Republic prohibits men from attending female sporting events, where strict requirements for women to cover themselves in public are lifted.
