Еще office. Six out of the nine ruling families attended the meeting, where it was decided that the Deputy King, the Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak, would remain as acting king until a new election is held on January 24. Sultan Muhammad V was chosen as king in December 2016, and had taken a medical leave of absence in November. According to media reports the king's decision to abdicate may be related to his recent marriage to a 25 year-old Russian beauty queen and Miss Moscow 2015, but this has not been confirmed by Malaysian authorities.
