Malaysia: Former PM Najib summoned to court on criminal breach of trust charges

Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was summoned to court in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, on three charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) while serving as Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Advisor Emeritus of SRC International. During the session, Najib reportedly pleaded not guilty of the charges. The court also issued a gag order on the process. «We are not sure... Еще the court's jurisdiction to order the gag. We were taken by surprise, so yeah, it's really for them to sort it out. And I think they finally will prepare a piece of paper which will set out the extent of the gag order. And the gag order will operate until the 8th of August, so that leaves us to just around a month. And then we will begin to object to it then,» said Attorney General Tommy Thomas. Najib is accused of misappropriating funds through several banks in Malaysia on three occasions between December 24, 2014 and March 2, 2015, reports say.
