Macedonia: Joint US-Macedonia military drills kick off in Krivolak

Joint US-Macedonia drills, dubbed 'Dragoon Guardian 17', kicked off at Macedonia's largest military base in Krivolak, near Negotino, Monday. Represenatives of the US army were greeted by Macedonian Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska-Jankovska and the country's Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. Еще troops will clear up improvised explosive devices (IEDs), carry out target practice and attempt setting up a runway for drones, which would reportedly remain for future use by the Macedonian army. Last week, some 300 US soldiers and 120 military vehicles arrived in Macedonia to take part in the joint drills, which are set to run until August 10. According to Macedonia's Defence Ministry, the main objective of the drills is to deepen US-Macedonia military cooperation as well as strengthen Macedonia's military and operation capability, compatible with NATO standards.
