The European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled from Luxembourg on Wednesday that European governments must regulate Uber as a transport service and not as a digital company. The ruling will force the US car-hailing app to abide by tighter regulations within the EU. According to the European court of justice, «It is indissociably related to a transport service and therefore it must be qualified as a... Еще service in the ambit of transportation.» Uber denied that it was a transport company and stated it was instead a computer services business and so should fall under e-commerce restrictions. Uber lost a case to Barcelona's Asociacion Profesional Elite Taxi group, which argued that Uber is involved in carrying passengers and thus should be regulated as a taxi operator. The ECJ decision cannot be appealed.
