Luxembourg: G7 summit 'commotion' brought EU closer together — Altmaier

The 'commotion' at the G7 summit has brought the EU closer together, stated German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier on arrival to a meeting of EU ministers in Luxembourg on Monday. «It is important we show unity at all levels,» Altmaier said, commenting on US President Donald Trump's trade battle with the G7 allies. After leaving the G7 meeting, hosted by Canadian Prime... Еще Minster Justin Trudeau, the US president backed out of the joint communique and posted a series of angry tweets criticising Washington's allies who plan to implement counter-measures to his tariffs. In one of the tweets, he wrote: «Germany pays 1% (slowly) of GDP towards NATO, while we pay 4% of a MUCH larger GDP. Does anybody believe that makes sense? We protect Europe (which is good) at great financial loss, and then get unfairly clobbered on Trade. Change is coming!»
