High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini gave a debriefing on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on behalf of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council at a press conference in Luxembourg, Monday. Mogherini asserted that “the European Union is committed to the continued full and effective implementation of all parts of the... Еще JCPOA,” adding that it has a “positive impact on trade and economic relations with Iran including benefits for the Iranian people.” The High Representative called on the Trump administration to “maintain its commitment to the JCPOA and to consider the implications for the security of the United States, its partners and the region before taking further steps.” Mogherini later added that, “at a time of acute nuclear threats, the European Union is determined to preserve the JCPOA as a key pillar of the international nonproliferation architecture.» Mogherini's statement follows US President Donald Trump’s decision to renege on the JCPOA, which was agreed under the Obama administration in 2015.
