Military officials from forces loyal to Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) put on display weapons that they say were captured from General Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) in Tripoli on Saturday.
Footage shows US-made Javelin anti-tank missiles as well as Chinese GP6 laser homing artillery projectiles. «These weapons are American, those are Chinese and unfortunately the... Еще contracts written on them indicate that they are from the United Arab Emirates,» said Ibrahim Altawel from the forces loyal to GNA.
He said the weapons were captured in Gharyan, a strategic town some 100 kilometres south of the capital Tripoli, on Wednesday. It had served as a major supply line for General Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA).
«We found some advanced weapons that are banned for exports to Libya under a UN Security Council decision, the decision that prohibits the supply of weapons. We found names of specific countries on them. We found them being used in the Libyan conflict to spill Libyan blood, instead of defending their own borders,» said Altawel.
If it's proven the UAE supplied Haftar's forces with weapons that would be a violation of deals with the US which ban re-selling arms to third countries.
