Libya: Tripoli’s Al-Khadra General hospital shelled

The Al-Khadra Hospital in Tripoli came under heavy shelling on Tuesday. Footage filmed on Wednesday shows the aftermath of the bombardment and the perimeter of the hospital, which lies in territory controlled by the UN-recognised Government of National Accord (GNA). The hospital is one of Tripoli's key medical facilities and reportedly the only one in Libya that is treating coronavirus patients... Еще. An earlier bombardment on Monday injured at least six medical workers, and necessitated the evacuation of the hospital. The attack on the health institution has been condemned by the United Nations as a «clear violation of international law» amid the coronavirus pandemic and attempts to reach a ceasefire. The local council of the nearby Abu Salim district, the hospital lies in the neighbouring Al-Hadba Al-Khadra district, said that Libyan National Army (LNA) forces were responsible for the shelling. Fighting has been taking place around the Libyan capital since the LNA, which controls much of Libya's east and parts of the south, first launched an offensive to gain control of Tripoli from the GNA in April 2019. The conflict eventually settled into a stalemate. At the Berlin conference on January 19, world leaders agreed on upholding a UN arms embargo and implementing a ceasefire in Libya.
