Libya: New UN envoy to Libya calls for year of stability during al-Sarraj presser

The newly-appointed UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, spoke of hopes for a «year of stability» in Tripoli, during in his first visit to the country, Saturday, where he held talks with the UN-backed Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj. Sarraj wished the newly-appointed envoy good luck and stated «we are ready to provide all the necessary support and assistance to... Еще him». He also expressed hope that the country would «emerge from the current crisis» to a «safe and stable Libya.» Talks centred around the various political and economic challenges facing Libya since the fall of Gaddafi in 2011, which has since seen the rise of sectarian violence in the country. The meetings come after Sarraj struck a deal with rival leader Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar of the Libyan National Army last month in a new effort to restore peace in the country.
