Libyan National Army (LNA) leader Khalifa Haftar called for a «jihad» against Turkish forces, during a speech in the Libyan city of Benghazi on Friday, in response to Ankara's decision to deploy troops to Libya.
«We declare jihad, red-alert, and comprehensive mobilization,» he said. «A schmuck Ottoman sultan ignited the fuse of a national war, targeting the Arab nation from its eastern to western... Еще lands by declaring that Libya is his heritage.»
Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) and Turkey signed a military and security cooperation agreement in November, leading to Turkey's parliament voting on Thursday to send troops to the north African country.
The LNA launched an operation last April in an attempt to take control of Tripoli, ruled by the GNA.
