Libya: Bodies exhumed from mass graves discovered in Tarhuna

After discovering several mass graves in Tarhuna, the General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons continued the exhumation of the bodies from one of the discovered graves in the city on Tuesday. Personnel was seen exhuming the bodies out of the mass grave, with ambulances seen ready to transport them. «Today we are in the cemetery in Tarhuna, where 10 bodies were exhumed on June 10th,» said the director of the Department of Remains Search, who added that «a plan has been set up and the area has been divided into several squares. We will continue with this work until it is finished, God willing.» The Government of National Accord (GNA) forces have recently captured the city of Tarhuna which had been considered an operation and supply centre for the Libyan National Army (LNA) forces. The Human Rights Council of the United Nations adopted a resolution on Monday to send an «investigation mission» to Libya, tasked with documenting the alleged violations committed in this country since 2016.
