Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Mustapha Adib said he has agreed with President Michel Aoun to «wait and give more time» for talks and consultations to form the government while speaking in a press conference held after Adib met President Aoun in Baabda Presidential Palace on Thursday.
“I have reviewed, with His Excellency the President of the Republic, the challenges we are facing in forming the new government. And I am fully aware we do not have the luxury of time,» Adib said.
“I count on everyone’s cooperation to form a new significant government with the powers to implement what has been agreed upon with (French President) Macron,» he added.
Adib didn’t give more details about the period agreed on with President Aoun, neither did he answer the reporter’s questions on the matter.
Adib was tasked to form the government amid a state of disagreement over allocation of ministerial portfolios to various Lebanese political blocs.
