Lebanon: Hundreds march for slain protester in Tripoli despite COVID restrictions

Demonstrators took to the streets of Lebanon's second-largest city of Tripoli on Sunday to protest against the shooting of an activist. Footage shows protesters marching through Tripoli holding the portrait of 26-year-old Fawaz Fouad al-Samman, who died during demonstrations on Tuesday. «This scene is one of the most amazing scenes representing the Lebanese revolution, and I want to thank... Еще everyone who came today to Tripoli,» one protester said. Protests against government corruption broke out in October, as Lebanon was facing its worst economic crisis in decades, with soaring unemployment and the Lebanese pound plummeting in value against the dollar. The coronavirus lockdown added more pressure on the struggling economy, prompting a new wave of protests despite social distancing restrictions.
