Hundreds took to the streets of Beirut on Saturday, in what were the 87th day of the ongoing anti-government protests.
«There is no option for the Lebanese people except to come down to the street to complete the uprising that started about 85 days ago, because the ruling political class does not understand that what is happening in Lebanon,» Antonie Kazi, one of the protesters said.
He added... Еще, «they will not be able to ignore it as if it did not happen and the government should be formed as soon as possible not with the logic that they work on as a basis, which is the quota.»
Lebanon was swept up in protests over economic stagnation and corruption. The trigger was a raft of new taxes, also targeting WhatsApp calls, designed to tackle the country's high public debt.
