Lebanon: 'Allies of Syria will not abandon country in economic war' — Nasrallah

Secretary-General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah condemned the latest round of US sanctions on Syria while speaking in a televised address from an undisclosed location in Lebanon on Tuesday. «Today I assure the Syrian people, and those interested in Lebanon, the region, and the fate of Syria, allies of Syria who supported Syria in the military, security and political war, even if their circumstances are difficult they will not abandon Syria in the economic war and will not allow Syria to fall in the economic war,» said Nasrallah as Lebanon itself grapples with the collapse of its local currency and worsening economic conditions. The latest US sanctions, also known as 'the Caesar Act,' will target businesses and officials financing the Syrian government, and are set to come into effect on June 17.
