The FIFA 2018 World Cup trophy arrived in Bishkek as part of its world tour on Monday. It was escorted by the former French footballer Christian Karembeu, a 1998 World Cup winner. “I hope that such a significant event as the World Cup trophy arriving will have a big knock-on effect, encourage and motivate our players for great things. Because the World Cup is the most prestigious tournament in... Еще the world, many people just want to touch it [World Cup trophy] and to win [it] is a dream,” said the President of Kyrgyz Football Federation Semetei Sultanov. The trophy’s world tour started in Russia in September 2017, during which it will visit more than 50 countries. The cup itself is made from 18 carat gold with a malachite base and weighs 6 kilograms (13 lbs).
