Korean DMZ: North, South Korean generals hold talks to ease tensions

General-level officers from North and South Korea met in the border village of Panmunjom in the demilitarised zone (DMZ) on Tuesday, to hold talks in a bid to ease military tensions. The generals are set to discuss ways to implement accords reached at April's inter-Korean summit on non-nuclear military issues. A joint excavation of the remains of fallen soldiers from the the Korean War will also be reportedly on the agenda. The meeting is attended by North Korean Lieutenant General An Ik San, who is leading the North Korean delegation, and South Korean Major General Kim Do-gyun, the head of the South Korean delegation to the inter-Korean military talks. The talks come while the US reportedly detected renewed activity at a North Korean missile factory, which is believed to have produced the country's first intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the US.
