Kenya: Violent scenes in Nairobi as election protests rage on

Kenyan security forces waged running battles in streets of Nairobi on Tuesday as protests over the Supreme Court's decision to uphold Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory in the general elections continued. The protests erupted after opposition leader Raila Odinga boycotted the October elections, saying they were not ‘free and fair. and urged his supporters to demonstrate against last month's repeated presidential vote. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta won 98 percent of the vote with a turnout of just under 39 percent. He had already won elections on August 8, the results of which were subsequently annulled because of «irregularities.» He is expected to be inaugurated on November 28th.
