Kenya: Tear gas billows as opposition supporters clash with riot police in Nairobi

Opposition protesters clashed with riot police in Nairobi, Monday, ahead of a repeat election on October 26. The protesters demanded the resignation of officials who they say are responsible for the annuled presidential election, including Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive officer Ezra Chiloba. Opposition activists accuse Chiloba of colluding with the... Еще electoral agency to rig the vote. The demonstrators were met with anti-riot police who fired tear gas canisters to break up the protest. «Our voices must be heard. Ezra Chiloba must go and there must be electoral reforms before elections», said one protester. The country's presidential elections on August 8 were nullified by the Kenyan Supreme Court after ruling that the IEBC conducted the election with «irregularities and illegalities».
