Four key documents on de-escalation zones in Syria were accepted by all parties during a plenary session, on the second day of the Syria Peace talks in Astana, Friday.
«We finally agreed on the four documents and from today they will become the basis for further steps for creating stability in the de-escalation zones», said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Ansari.
According to Russia's... Еще Special Envoy on Syria Alexander Lavrentiev, the documents are «a mandate for the deployment of de-escalation zone control forces, rules of engagement for de-escalation zone forces, rules for operating lines of safety, checkpoints and observation points, as well as provision about the joint Russian-Iranian coordination centre».
Ansari also stated that «we distinguished between groups that we treat as extremist groups and armed opposition groups that are taking part in this [Astana] process and joined the ceasefire».
This is the sixth round of talks on resolving the Syrian crisis to be held in Astana. The negotiations are being supervised by Russia, Turkey, as well as Iran as the mediators of the talks.
