Footage released on Saturday shows the aftermath of a deadly brawl that took place in the southern Kazakh village of Masanchi on Friday.
Footage shows a fire that took place on Friday night in the village, as well as the aftermath on the Saturday morning. Burnt houses and cars, broken windows and smoke above the smoldering facilities can be seen all over the village.
As Kazakh Interior... Еще Minister Erlan Turgumbaev said, the unrest began at about 7 PM local time on Friday. “There were about 70 aggressive locals gathered on the outskirts of Kordaisky district’s Masanchi village, and they started a fight motivated by hooliganism,” he said.
The “rabbie-rousers” managed to invite 300 more people to come from nearby villages and join the unrest and arsons. As a result, eight were killed, two police officers received gunshot injuries, and “more than 30 houses, 15 retail facilities and 23 cars were damaged,” Turgumbaev concluded.
