Dozens of people were detained in Almaty on Saturday, as protesters gathered at Baluan Sholak Sports Palace for an unsanctioned demonstration against the presidential vote.
“Despite repeated warnings by the prosecutor's office, some citizens gave in to the provocations of a banned extremist organization [Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan which is banned by the court]. Some of them began to commit... Еще unlawful actions against law enforcement officers, creating a threat to the security of other citizens” Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry announced.
According to Kazakh officials, smoke bombs and traumatic weapons were confiscated from organizers of the unsanctioned protest.
Previously, Deputy Attorney General of Kazakhstan Bulat Dembaev appealed to the public not to give in to provocations and refrain from taking part in illegal actions.
