Residents of Astana reacted to the resignation of country's President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Tuesday.
«The time has come. He has already been a head of our state for 30 years. And his age speaks for itself. It is time to pass on [leadership] to young hands,» said one of the locals.
The other Astana resident, however, expressed a different opinion: «I liked his leadership, I liked how he treated... Еще people. He did a lot of good things for the country.»
Nursultan Nazarbayev, 78, has been the leader of Kazakhstan since 1990. The next presidential election is scheduled for 2020. Until that time Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, will take over Kazakhstan's presidency.
