US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo vowed the US would be «re-doubling» its efforts to curb Iran's influence in the Middle East, speaking at a joint press conference with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Amman on Tuesday.
«The most significant threat to the region is Daesh and the Islamist revolution and their revolutionary efforts in the region,» he said.
«We are re-doubling not only... Еще our diplomatic, but our commercial efforts, to put real pressure on Iran to achieve what it is we set out for them back in May,» Pompeo stated.
Pompeo's visit to Jordan comes as part of an eight-nation trip to the Middle East to allay allies' fears after the US' surprise announcement of a complete withdrawal of troops from Syria.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi emphasised that a dialogue including Jordan, Russia and the US is needed to achieve common goals in the region.
