Jordan: Moscow to bring Russian, US diplomatic missions to «parity» — Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Moscow will introduce working conditions in which Russian missions in the US and US missions in Russia will be brought to full «parity», at a joint press conference held alongside his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Al Safadi, in Amman, Monday. Commenting on Washington's withdrawing Russia's permission to use its Consulate General in San Francisco... Еще and other diplomatic facilities, Lavrov argued that the US «pocketed» Moscow's goodwill and said, «If the Russians want parity, then they should close one of the four consulates general because we have only three general consulates in Russia». He went on to note that if the US has taken «parity» as a criterion, then Moscow would consider the conditions in which «US foreign institutions operate in Russia and Russian ones operate in the US. And we will bring these conditions into full accordance with what is called parity». The Russian diplomat also noted that Russia and Jordan have agreed to «increase cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism» and have a «common understanding of how to do this.» He described the situation with Jabhat an-Nusrah (also known as the al-Nusra-Front) as «ambiguous» because «a number of participants in the US coalition are trying to protect it and take it out from under attack».
