An anti-US rally was held in front of the Grand Al-Husseini Mosque in the Jordanian capital of Amman, Friday, in response to the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by US President Donald Trump. Hundreds of citizens took to the streets, marching from the Grand Al-Husseini Mosque to Al-Nakheel Square, holding banners reading «Jerusalem is the title of peace and stability in the... Еще region.» Several Islamic and Christian leaders took part in the rally, alongside members of the Jordanian Chamber of Deputies. The police presence was heavy with some minor confrontations with the protesters. Trump recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Wednesday in a live televised address from Washington DC. He also began the process of moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv. The decision caused an immediate outrage and fury from countries across the world. Israel has always claimed Jerusalem as its capital while Palestinians demand that annexed East Jerusalem becomes the capital of a future Palestinian state.
