Japan: Waves lash Pacific coast as tropical storm Dolphin approaches

Waves could be seen crashing against rocks on the coast near the village of Noda and the city of Miyako, in Iwate Prefecture on Thursday, as the severe tropical storm Dolphin continued to approach Japan, bringing heavy winds and rainfall. Reports say officials have already urged residents in low-lying areas to stay alert for possible landslides and floods. In addition, local authorities have been advised by the government to prepare for a smooth evacuation of the population, should the necessity arise.
