Two wheelchair-bound lawmakers became the first severely disabled politicians in Japan to join the parliament's upper house session in Tokyo on Thursday. Footage shows Yasuhiko Funago and Eiko Kimura being helped by caretakers to get inside the National Diet building.
Japan's law only allows to pay for such care when the person is not working. But the upper house agreed to make an exception for... Еще the two politicians. Modifications were also made at the session hall to meet their needs.
Both Funago and Kimura won seats for Japan's Upper House on July 21 after running for leftist opposition group Reiwa Shinsengumi, created by actor Taro Yamamoto.
