Japan: Trump warns 'dictators' of 'American resolve' as Asia tour kicks off

US President Donald Trump began his Asia tour with a thinly-veiled barb against North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, warning that «no one, no dictator, no regime and no nation, should underestimate American resolve,» during a speech at the Yokota Air Base near Tokyo on Sunday. «History has proven over and over that the road of the tyrant is a steady march toward poverty, suffering and servitude... Еще,» said Trump, who did not mention North Korea by name. He then admonished that «every once in a while in the past they underestimated us. It was not pleasant for them was it? It was not pleasant.» Trump also stated that the US is doing «really, really well,» citing stock market and unemployment figures, as well as a «brutal defeat» dealt to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL. Trump’s Japan visit marks the first out of five countries over the course of 12 days. Japan is expected to seek reassurance from Trump of US commitment to security in the Asia-Pacific region.
