The International Olympic Committee (IOC) congratulated the organisers of Tokyo 2020 at a press conference in the Japanese capital on Wednesday, declaring that preparations for the Olympic Games were ahead of schedule. Chairman of the Coordination Commission for Tokyo 2020 John Coates said, “you are meeting all of your deadlines for construction and I see no reason why in a country as... Еще sophisticated as that it won't continue to be the case.” IOC representatives, including Coates, were visiting Japan as part of three-day inspection. Head of the Organising Committee Yoshiro Mori said one of the key aims for Tokyo 2020 is to regenerate areas affected by the tsunami in March 2011. “Contributions to reconstruction; this is one of the pillars of Tokyo 2020, and to the people of the disaster affected areas, we would like to bring energy and vigour”, said Mori. The 32nd Olympiad will be held in a range of venues in the Tokyo Bay area from 24 July to 9 August 2020.
