Russian President Vladimir Putin invited his US counterpart Donald Trump to Moscow for the 75th Victory Day celebrations during the leaders' talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitri Peskov told journalists in Osaka on Friday.
“Mr. Trump welcomed the invitation and said he would be waiting for the official invitation sent to him in the coming days,” Peskov said... Еще.
Peskov also sought to explain Putin’s comments on liberalism, which the Russian leader gave to the Financial Times in an interview before the G20 summit.
“He did say that when ideas of liberalism are being imposed on others, when ideas differing from liberalism are being considered wrong, then it means that these ideas are discredited and a sort of inflation of these ideas of liberalism is coming,” Peskov said.
In an interview with the newspaper, Putin called liberalism “obsolete” and said that the ideology had «outlived its purpose».
The 14th G20 summit will see world leaders discuss the most important financial and economic issues of the day. Trade, climate change and international crises look set to be top of the agenda. A number of bilateral talks will also take place on the sidelines of the summit.
