Japanese protesters were out in force on Thursday to protest the construction of massive new sea barriers ahead of a new US base in Heneko on the island of Okinawa. Footage shows protesters chanting and holding signs, and decrying not only the ecological impact of the base, but also the moral grounds for a building complex devoted to war. «What do they do in the base? What is happening in the... Еще base? They practice how to kill people. The practice of war,» said Mieko Hokama, an Okinawa resident. The site is where an alternative facility for the US Marine Corps Futenma Air Station is scheduled to be built. The facility is now located in a densely-populated part of Okinawa's main island. Moves by anti-base protesters are likely to gain force.
