Japan: Ousted Nissan exec Ghosn claims innocence in first court appearance since arrest

Footage filmed on Tuesday shows a bus believed to be carrying ousted Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn, who made his first public appearance at the Tokyo District Court, following his demand to hear the reasons for his prolonged detention. According to reports, during the hearing the 64-year-old stated that he had been «unfairly detained based on meritless and unsubstantiated accusations.» He also... Еще insisted that he had «always acted with integrity» and had never been accused of «any wrongdoing» in his decades-long career. Ghosn was arrested on November 19, 2018, on allegations of financial misconduct, including under-reporting his pay. Since then, he has been re-arrested twice on separate charges, a peculiarity of Japanese law, which allows authorities to detain suspects for extended periods.
