The International Olympic Committee announced halting the International Boxing Federation (AIBA) from planning Tokyo 2020 boxing championship and launching an inquiry at AIBA's finances, during a press conference in Tokyo on Friday. «The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee today decided to initiate an inquiry to the International Boxing Association, AIBA, this is the... The IOC Sports Director Kit McConnell said that the executive board decided to «freeze all official contact with AIBA» despite that «AIBA has done a lot of work and has achieved some very good progress in terms of its WADA compliance but also steps it has taken to improve anti-doping program.» McConnell added that the IOC's priority is to protect the «integrity of the sports, while protecting the athletes,» and «to have confirmation of an Olympic Boxing Competition here in Tokyo.»
