Lead defence lawyer for ousted Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn, Motonari Otsuru, maintained that the Japanese prosecutors had «no grounds» for detaining him, as he spoke to the press following the hearing at the Tokyo District Court on Tuesday. During the press conference, Motonari reiterated Ghosn's statement in court, saying that he «is innocent of the accusation made against him, he always acted... Еще with integrity, and that he has been wrongly accused and unfairly detained based on meritless accusations.» Tuesday's hearing was Ghosn's first public appearance in court since his arrest in November. Ghosn was first arrested on November 19 and later charged with under-reporting of his earnings by 5 billion yen ($45 million/€40 million) over a five-year-period until 2016. He has denied the allegations. Since then, he has been re-arrested twice over the allegations that he had transferred personal investment losses of 1.85 billion yen ($17 million/€14 million) to the company's books.
