The unveiling ceremony for 2020 Olympic Games torch took place in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The 1.2kg (2.6lbs) torch by designer Tokujin Yoshioka is made from aluminium and has a sakura (cherry blossom) motif: a pink-gold colour and five flower petals cut into its head to represent the five Olympic rings.
The torch relay will start on March 20 next year, which coincides with the arrival of the world... Еще-famous cherry blossom season in Japan.
Its slogan will be «Hope Lights Our Way,» as the theme of the Tokyo Games is reconstruction after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
According to organisers, after arriving in the host country from Greece, the Olympic flame will initially be put on display at various locations in the Tohoku region to send message of support for the areas affected by the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and subsequent nuclear meltdown.
In total, the torch relay will be held over 121 days, before ending at the Opening Ceremony on July 24.
