Thousands of anti-nuclear protesters marched through the streets of central Tokyo, Monday, calling on the government to halt its policy of restarting Japanese nuclear reactors. Protesters held signs and chanted slogans along the way, demanding the complete closure of the country's nuclear power plants for the safety of the population. The march culminated with a rally at Tokyo's Yoyogi Park... Еще, where an estimated 9,500 protesters took each other by the arms and sang in unison for a nuclear energy-free Japan. Following the Fukushima Daiichi near-nuclear disaster in 2011, then-Prime Minister Naoto Kan vowed to shut down all of Japans nationwide shutdown of nuclear plants. However, the government has since restarted a number of reactors, vowing that the reopened reactors will meet the new standards in place.
