Italy: 'We want to work' — anti-COVID-19 restrictions protest hits Palermo

Protesters gathered in Palermo for what seemed to be a socially-distanced demonstration against the government's newly-imposed COVID-19 restrictions, Sunday. «We want to work, and not just to have aid from the state, we want to work,» said one of the protesters, entrepreneur Corrado Siragusa. The government has implemented restrictive measures across various parts of the country in an attempt to curb rising infection rate. In recent days, similar protests have taken place in major cities such as Rome and Naples, as well as other locations. Italy has registered 525,782 cases of the coronavirus with 37,338 deaths related to it, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
