A train smashed into a truck after it crashed through barriers and ended up on the tracks, leaving at least two dead and 18 injured near the town of Caluso, 30km (19mi) northeast of Turin, on Wednesday night. Footage shows the derailed and damaged train, with first responders working around the area. Marco Frezza, the Commander in Chief of Turin Firefighters gave a statement. «We received an... Unfortunately, two died,» Frezza confirmed. According to reports, the first reported fatality was the train engineer, while later one of the two critically injured people who were flown to a hospital was also pronounced dead. The truck driver is reported to have escaped injury.
