The Mille Miglia (1,000 miles; 1,743 km), considered 'the most beautiful race in the world' for its vintage cars, rolled into Rome on Thursday. The motorcade drove up the iconic Via Veneto, made famous world-wide in the film La Dolce Vita. The first Mille Miglia started in 1927 with 71 competitors. Since 1977, it has been run as a regular race for classic and vintage cars. Participation is... Еще limited to cars produced no later than 1957. This year more than 500 vintage cars — belonging to some 73 different brands — will be taking part. Crew members from 34 countries will be leading the effort. Romans were able to catch glimpse of some of the world's most treasured classic cars, like the 1500 Super Sport of 1928, Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS, 6C 1750 GS, 1900 SS and 1900 Sport Spider. The four-day race traditionally starts in the northern city of Brescia, before criss-crossing some of the most beautiful towns in all of Italy, with a grand finale in Rome.
