Italy: Severe floods hit northern Italy, causing damages

Severe floods hit northern Italy on Saturday, after storm moved overnight across south-eastern France and northern Italy, destroying bridges and blocking roads on both sides of the border. The fury of the swollen waters of the Sesia caused the collapse of the bridge that connects Romagnano Sesia, in the province of Novara, with Gattinara, in the Vercelli area on Saturday. Municipals workers and locals were seen clearing flood waters from roads and shops in Gattinara. A body is reported to have been found in the Vercelli province, near to where a man had been swept away by flood waters late on Friday.
