An NGO rescue vessel carrying 41 migrants docked in the Italian port of Lampedusa on Saturday, becoming the second ship to defy Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini's ban to enter Italian ports.
The «Alex», run by charity Mediterranea, entered Lampedusa reportedly claiming a state of necessity and intolerable hygienic conditions onboard, while Salvini reiterated he won't allow the migrants to... Еще disembark. A motor boat of the Italian financial authorities was seen sailing alongside the rescue vessel while still at sea.
Footage shows a huge presence of police forces at the dock where the ship arrived, and health staff providing medical assistance to migrants who are still on board.
'Alex' forced its entry into the Italian waters just a week after the Sea-Watch 3 rescue boat docked in Lampedusa without permission with forty migrants on board, resulting in the arrest of its German captain, Carola Rackete.
